New business filings up 50 percent in February

Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie announced today that new business filings are up for the second straight month over the same period a year ago.

“This is great news for our state’s economy,” said Secretary of State Ritchie. “More new business filings mean more employment and that’s exactly what Minnesotans need.”

Filing statistics show significant gains over last year. Overall new business filings in February 2012 increased more than 50 percent when compared to February of 2011. Limited Liability Company (LLC) filings increased by more than 60 percent since last year.

The same trend was seen last month when filing statistics showed overall business filings in January 2012 were up significantly.
