Card gymnastics: Bowdens end season at state
Tahlia Bowden was 19th overall, with Briquelle Bowden competing on the bars
Tahlia and Briquelle Bowden wrapped up the Cardinal gymnastics season as the two competed at their first state tournament this past weekend.
Tahlia earned the right at sections to compete on the vault, beam, floor and the all around. In the end, she took home 19th place after finishing the all around with 35.6 points.
Briquelle competed on the bars and finished with a score of 8.275.
“[She] had a beautiful routine on the low bar but fell on one of her skills on the high,” head coach Becca Cederberg said. “She finished the rest of her routine strong.”
Tahlia started on the floor, where she finished with a 9.1. She went on to the vault from there. She fell on her first vault before hitting her second one for a score of 9.25. Tahlia went to the bars and scored an 8.675 before wrapping things up on the beam.
“She had a strong beam routine but fell once during a jump,” Cederberg said. “She still earned an 8.25 and finished the meet with a very strong all-around score.”
Both Briquelle and Tahlia will be back next season to help the Alexandria program build on one of the best seasons in recent history.
“We are all so proud of [both girls] for the huge accomplishment of making it to state and can’t wait until next year to see what other wonderful things the entire Cardinal team will bring.”
