Minnewaska boys' basketball: Lakers split with Morris, Melrose
Minnewaska beats Morris after falling to Melrose early last week.
The Minnewaska boys’ basketball team handed Morris Area a 57-43 loss on the Lakers’ home court last Thursday night.
Austin Giese had 29 points and five rebounds and helped Minnewaska run away with things early. The Lakers (7-13, 3-5 WCCN) led 35-19 at the break and held the Tigers (13-8, 6-2 WCCS) at bay the rest of the way.

Minnewaska fell to 6-13 overall and 3-5 in West Central North Conference play as Melrose handed the Lakers an 80-64 loss Tuesday night.
The Dutchmen held a 40-21 halftime lead that the Lakers could not overcome, despite outscoring Melrose 43-40 in the second half.
Austin Giese was Minnewaska’s leader on the scoreboard with 14 points, while Trent Noetzelman had 13 points and eight rebounds.
Isaac Sawyer led Melrose with 25 and Scott Stone added 23.
Minnewaska will host Sauk Centre Tuesday night and will be at New London-Spicer next Friday. They were to have hosted Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta last night, Thursday.
