Lakes Area gymnasts second at Winter Challenge

The Lakes Area Gymnasts took second at the Winter Challenge held at Concordia University on January 28.

Sydney Gray led the way with a second-place finish on the vault, uneven bars and floor to finish runner-up in the all around. Jacy Roste did the same after taking second in the uneven bars and the balance beam in the age 11-plus category.

McKenna Thoennes had the lone first-place finish for the team. She took first on the balance beam and finished right behind Roste for third in the all around.

LAKES AREA RESULTS – LEVEL 5 – AGE 7-9 – Rachel Boyden – balance beam, fourth place; Floor, fourth place; Vault, fifth place; All around, fifth place; Payton Olson – balance beam, fifth place

AGE 10 CATEGORY – Sydney Gray – vault, second place; uneven bars, second place; balance beam, third place; floor, second place; all around, second place

AGE 11 CATEGORY – Nicole Brittin – floor, fourth place; Jacy Roste – uneven bars, second place; balance beam, second place; all around, second place; McKenna Thoennes – vault, fourth place; balance beam, first place; all around, third place

LEVEL 6 – 11-YEAR-OLD AGE CATEGORY – Joslyn Kent – uneven bars, fourth place
