Letter - Well run, well done
Kudos to Sertoma and Vikingland Sportmen’s Club for their continued efforts in transforming a frozen lake into one of the most efficiently and well-run events in the state.
To the editor:
It is easy for a member of the community, such as ourselves, to appreciate our annual Ice Fishing Challenge, but as a local business owner we also have the opportunity to speak with the challenge’s patrons and supporters from outside of the area and state. Kudos to Sertoma and Vikingland Sportmen’s Club for their continued efforts in transforming a frozen lake into one of the most efficiently and well-run events in the state. This year, as always, it was well organized from beginning to end with no garbage left behind and the only trace that anything had taken place is the Chinese checkerboard of iced over fishing holes.
I had the opportunity to speak with a number of individuals who came to Interlachen after the tournament to warm-up and get something to eat before heading out, and they raved about how well run it was. Two gentlemen had come from Missouri and had such a good time and were so impressed that they’ve already decided to make it an annual event.
Thank you, Vikingland Sportmen’s Club, Sertoma and the many volunteers for sponsoring an event that helps to stimulate our local economy. From restaurants to hotels, gas stations, grocery stores, retail establishments and bait shops, the entire community benefits from this tournament. Well run, well done and most appreciated.
