The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects in the recent Latoka Drive armed robbery.

Around 1 a.m. on February 1, a man wearing dark clothing and a ski mask entered the home of Robert Nelson, 85, on Latoka Drive in Alexandria, just west of County Road 45. Nelson was sleeping at the time.

During the robbery, Nelson was assaulted and suffered cuts to his face. He was taken to the hospital. The robber was armed with a handgun.

Item stolen include Nelson’s high school class ring and a red plastic Folgers coffee container full of coins. The ring is a 1943 class ring from Lynd High School. A large “L,” the year “43” and the initials “R.N.” are on the gold ring.

The suspect did not act alone, according to investigators.

The reward is being offered with the help of Nelson’s family and friends and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (320) 762-8151.
