Boys' basketball: Panthers win, Lakers fall

Alex Alberts sliced his way to the basket with three seconds remaining in overtime to give Parkers Prairie a 74-72 win over Hancock Monday night.

The Panthers led by 14 points at halftime, but saw the Owls force a 68-68 tie at the end of regulation.

Alberts finished the night with 18 points, while teammate Eric Ronning's 24 points led all players. Tyler Hollats added 16 as the Panthers picked up their fifth win of the season.

Taylor Holleman had 22 points for the Owls, who hit 11 shots from three-point range.

Parkers Prairie is now 5-13 overall and 2-7 in Little Eight Conference play. They will be hosting Underwood tonight, Friday, and see Battle Lake come to town on Tuesday.

Minnewaska fell to 4-12 overall as they succumbed to Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City Monday night 68-63.

Austin Giese had 19 points to lead the Lakers, while Austin Ostrander had 14 and Trenton Noetzelman 10.

The Falcons had just four players score, but all four were in double figures.

Minnewaska heads to Hancock tomorrow, Saturday, and will be at Melrose Tuesday.
