JHS Math League takes third in CLC contest
Alexandria’s Jefferson High School (JHS) Math League participated in the Central Lakes Conference (CLC) Math Contest on Wednesday, January 25 and finished in third place. Team scores for this contest were calculated by combining the scores of the top eight individual scorers for each school.
Alexandria’s Jefferson High School (JHS) Math League participated in the Central Lakes Conference (CLC) Math Contest on Wednesday, January 25 and finished in third place.
Team scores for this contest were calculated by combining the scores of the top eight individual scorers for each school.
The teams placed and scored as follows: St. Cloud Tech (236), Sartell (228), Alexandria (207), Fergus Falls (164, won the tie breaker), Rocori (164) and Sauk Rapids-Rice (156).
Alexandria had three all-conference honor recipients who placed in the top 15: Taylor Score, Leah Stinson and Ben Tollefson.
Score answered 31 of 40 questions correctly and earned 5th place. Stinson answered 30 of 40 questions and earned 7th place and Tollefson answered 28 of 40 questions correctly and earned 15th place.
Honorable mention certificates were awarded to students who placed 16th to 25th individually. Earning honorable mention for Alexandria were Kalli Bowser who placed 16th overall with a score of 27 and Jade Mathre who placed 25th with a score of 24.
Other JHS students who participated in the math contest were: Heidi Bush, Ted Deitz, Claire Donovan, Dalton Gusaas, Hailey Haugen, Carolyn Lussenhop, Austin McCulloch, Heidi Moe, Will Reed, Nicholas Schlapkohl, Megan Schouweiler, Haley Seward, Christian Thompson, Chairat Thongsombatpanich, Ally Timm, John Turner and Trina Weisel.
