The Cardinal gymnasts edged out Sauk Rapids-Rice by a little more than a point last Thursday night after a late rally on the floor routine gave Alexandria a 139.55-138.35 win over the Storm.

The Cardinals finished 1-3 on the floor to erase what was a small deficit going into the final event. Tahlia Bowden won the event with a 9.3. Briquelle Bowden was right behind her at 9.2 and Hannah Wendel rounded out the top three with a 9.0. Their final team score on the floor routine set a new school record at 36.15.

The Bowdens and Wendel cemented the top three spots in the all-around after their floor routines. Tahlia was first overall with a 35.85. Briquelle was second at 35.75 and Wendel came in a close third at 34.8. Senior Sarah Dolan rounded out a good night for Alexandria by finishing fifth in the all-around at 32.6.

The Cardinals honored Dolan as their lone senior on Senior Night. She then went out and finished sixth on the vault (8.85), 10th on the bars (7.45), ninth on the beam (7.65) and sixth on the floor (8.65).

“She has been a captain for three years and has such a positive affect on our entire team,” head coach Becca Cederberg said.

The Cardinals also set a new school record on the vault with a team score of 36.25. T. Bowden (9.35) and Wendel (9.05) finished first and second, respectively. B. Bowden posted a 9.0, while Anna Spanbauer finished 10th with an 8.5 to round out the event after Dolan finished sixth.
