Todd Schroeder, 49

Todd Richard Schroeder, 49, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012.

Todd was born September 11, 1962 in Yankton, SD, the son of Noel and Linda (Luther) Schroeder. He lived in Royal, Iowa where he attended school through the third grade. His family then moved to Alexandria, where Todd graduated in 1981 from Jefferson High School. He continued his education in sales at the Alexandria Technical College.

After working for a time in sales, Todd moved to San Diego, CA where he developed an interest in computers. In 1988 he returned to Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota at Morris. In 1992 he graduated with a major in computer science and a minor in business.

On March 17, 1990 Todd was united in marriage to Gwen Welling at the Big Bend Lutheran Church near Milan. The couple made their home in Alexandria until moving to Apple Valley in 1996. They were blessed with three children, Danika, Merissa and McKenna. Todd worked as an IT person for several companies before accepting a job with American Solutions for Business as vice-president of IT. Over the years he has served on many boards for various computer user groups. He and his family moved back to Alexandria in 2009.

Todd loved his work and loved working with computers. He enjoyed spending time with his family and the outdoors. Todd liked to hunt and went fishing in the summer and winter. The trips to Canada and the Boundary Waters were a highlight. He especially loved to go snowmobiling and was never without his Snowtech magazine. Spending time with his girls was very important to Todd. He was a supportive dad and was there to cheer his girls on in everything they did. Life was good for Todd; he was happy.

He was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Marilyn Schroeder.

Todd is survived by his wife, Gwen Schroeder of Garfield; three daughters, Danika, Merissa and McKenna Schroeder, all of Garfield; mother, Linda Schroeder of Carlos; father, Noel Schroeder and wife, Jan, of Sioux Falls, SD; two brothers, Scott Schroeder and wife, Jenny, of Robbinsdale and Martin Schroeder and wife, Laura, of Eldorado Hills, CA; and two sisters, Wendy Steidl and husband, Randy, of Carlos and Barb Anderson and husband, Dean, of Grantsburg, WI.

A funeral service was held Sunday, January 29 at St. Luke’s Church in Garfield. The Rev. David Gran was the officiant. Music was provided by Gregory Kappahn, Audrey Aga, Tonya Christman and Carmen Silbernick. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Casket bearers included Jeff Dewanz, Mike Nemmers, Brian Strater, Eric Gorghuber, Justin Zavadil, Larry Zavadil and Lyle Lentz. Honorary casket bearers included nieces and nephews, Jordan Welling, Justin Welling, Breanna Welling, Brittany Welling, Paige Welling, Preston Welling, Nick Steidl, Nolan Steidl, Ryan Schroeder, Jeremy Schroeder, Chelsea Schroeder, Luke Anderson and Brett Anderson.
