Six people were arrested in Alexandria Tuesday as part of a drug and weapons investigation.
The Alexandria Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the West Central Minnesota Drug Task Force worked cooperatively on the case, according to Police Chief Rick Wyffels.
The five men and one woman arrested were from the Alexandria and Willmar communities and face charges of methamphetamine possession and weapons violations.
Between 20 and 25 grams of meth were confiscated during the investigation, along with weapons. The value of the drugs seized was estimated at $5,000.
Three children were placed into protective custody. Their ages ranged from 9 months to 11 years old.
The investigation continues and there may be more arrests in the future, according to Wyffels. “We expect formal felony charges in the near future,” he said.
The names of those arrested were not immediately released due to the ongoing investigation, Wyffels said.
