The Chargers held off a late rally by the Jaguars on Monday night to win 64-48 after beating the Battlers 47-26 last Friday.
Brandon-Evansville and BBE both shot 39 percent from the field, but the Chargers won the game from the free throw line where they went 18-of-23. Heather Strese was 13-for-13 from the stripe as she finished with 29 points and 10 rebounds.
Her teammates provided a lot of help around her. Megan Friedrich had 18 points, while Carlie Steffenson added eight points and Kinsley Randt added eight assists.
“It was a good offensive game,” head coach Dick Simpson said. “They got hot at the end. We had a 10-point lead and then one of their girls hit four threes…but we played pretty well with the lead before they got hot there and made it close.”
It was the Chargers’ defense that carried them to a Little Eight Conference win against the Battlers. Brandon-Evansville held Battle Lake to just 26 percent from the field (9-34) and forced Battle Lake into 30 turnovers.
“We played a good game defensively,” Simpson said. “Our press disrupted their offense.”
