Card dance: Kick team fifth, jazz team seventh at Sauk Rapids Invite
Alexandria’s dance team finished fifth in the kick division and seventh in jazz as the Cardinals competed in a seven-team competition at Sauk Rapids Tuesday night.
“The team was very excited to take fifth place in the kick division, beating St. Cloud Apollo and Rocori,” said head coach Christine Reilly. “The Cardinals tied with Pequot Lakes in total points but Pequot came ahead by one rank point to clinch the fourth place spot.
“The girls were very excited to have had a clean performance, something they have been struggling with lately,” she added. “The kick team was also missing two team members due to injury and illness.
“Being short two team members really affects formations and choreography, but it didn’t fluster the girls. They took care of last minute changes and handled it beautifully.
“In jazz, the Cards took seventh,” Reilly noted. “This place did not come as a surprise and the jazz team was pleased with their performance.”
The Cardinals will be at Rocori tomorrow, Saturday and at Melrose on Monday.
