The Alexandria Police Department responded to a report of a robbery at Glenwood State Bank in Alexandria at about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 29.
The suspect entered the bank during business hours and walked straight to the front teller in the lobby, according to police. He was wearing a green zip-up waist length jacket. He also had a bright multi-colored stocking hat over the top of what appeared to be a solid dark-colored ski mask, light blue denim jeans and dark-colored gloves.
The suspect demanded money while brandishing what witnesses described as a small hand gun. He was given an undisclosed amount of money and left the bank, which is located at 2221 South Broadway.
The suspect is described as possibly a white male, less than 6 feet in height. The Alexandria Police Department and the FBI are currently investigating this case.
The Alexandria Police Department is encouraging anyone with information or those who think they may have seen something to contact police at (320) 763-6631.
Peter Nelson, president of Glenwood State Bank, noted that nobody was harmed during the incident. "The staff handled the situation flawlessly and I am proud of them," Nelson said in a news release issued Thursday night. "The law enforcement agencies, which were complimentary of our security system, are currently investigating the situation. We assure you the deposits and documents of our customers are safe."
