Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered recovery program at Alexandria Covenant Church, will begin a year’s series of teachings on recovery themes on Monday, January 2 with a talk on “Denial.”

The evening will start with a New Year’s Pizza Party and fellowship at 6 p.m. in the lower level Fellowship Center. Members of the community are warmly welcomed to attend; the church is located at 4005 Dakota Street, Alexandria (on the frontage road north of Target).

On January 2, and every Monday evening throughout the year, Celebrate Recovery begins with coffee and fellowship at 6 p.m., followed by a large group celebration with teaching, worship and faith stories at 6:30 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. all first-time attendees are invited to a Newcomers 101 orientation, while others participate in one of several men-only and women-only open share groups where people find leaders who have experience with issues they struggle with. And at 8:30 people come together for great desserts, snacks and refreshments at the Solid Rock Café.

Celebrate Recovery encourages people with a variety of hurts, habits and hang-ups to step out of their denial and into God’s grace. As people work on biblically-based recovery principles, they begin to grow spiritually and find freedom from addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. Many participants find peace, serenity and joy, as well as a stronger personal relationship with God and others.

Started at Saddleback Church in southern California in 1991, Celebrate Recovery is a local church-based program currently being run in over 10,000 churches and various institutions around the world.

The Alexandria Celebrate Recovery is a joint ministry of Alexandria Covenant and Catalyst Covenant churches. For more information on Celebrate Recovery, go to www.celebraterecovery.com or contact the Catalyst Church office at (320) 759-1800 or catalyst@catalystcov.org.
