Get ready to freeze

Each year, thousands of brave and generous Minnesotans gather around the state to take a dip into many of Minnesota’s 10,000 frozen lakes. Polar Bear Plunge events are organized by Minnesota law enforcement agencies as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a grassroots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle for Special Olympics. In 2011, nearly $2.4 million was raised through this initiative.

Special Olympics Minnesota offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round sports training and competition. Through the program’s athletic, health and leadership programs, people with intellectual disabilities transform themselves, their communities and the world.

Plunge participants are asked to raise a minimum of $75 per plunger.

Check-in and registration on on February 26 will begin at Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center at 10:30 a.m. Last year, 306 people took the plunge into Lake Darling, raising more than $48,000.
