Love INC representatives attend national conference, launch new affiliate website

The 2011 Love INC (Love In the Name of Christ) National Conference was held October 27-29 in Gurnee, Illinois. 

The local Love INC affiliate, Love INC of Douglas County Lakes Area, was represented at this conference by executive director Tammy Boushek and staff member Kathy Anderson. 

More than 175 people from Love INC affiliates across the nation and from the international affiliate in Kenya gathered in prayer, fellowship and plenary sessions to learn about a new training tool, the Defining Difference. 

This model introduced updates to the Love INC mission statement and core values, discussed types of poverty, presented ways to empower people to make a difference in their lives, and gave suggestions for strengthening church partnerships. 

“The training provided will allow us to reevaluate our current Clearinghouse procedures and lead us to implement new ideas – ideas to better serve the needs of Douglas County,” noted Boushek.

Love INC networks local church ministries and church volunteers across denominations to help people in need. The volunteers are mobilized to work together, along with community organizations and government resources, to provide coordinated help to people in need.

More than providing goods and services, Love INC aims to meet people’s needs with the love of Jesus Christ. Christians are putting their faith in action and providing help, hope and God’s love to neighbors in need.

They are building caring relationships with those who are struggling, and moving beyond the expressed need to help address the underlying issues that contribute to poverty and hopelessness.

In addition to attending the national conference, the local Love INC affiliate recently worked with a local company, Synchronistic Solutions, to launch a new website at www.loveincdouglas.org. 

The site shares information about the affiliate, success stories, donation needs, opportunities to volunteer and more.
