Alexandria’s high kick dance team finished first at the Fergus Falls Invitational Saturday, with the jazz team taking second place.
“It was a huge step up for the varsity Cardinal kick team from [its] first competition last week,” said head coach Christine Reilly. “The girls made improvements in the areas of kick technique and execution, and that gave them a lead of 58 points over the second place Wadena team. All five judges had the Cardinals in first place.
“For the varsity jazz team, it was the first competition of the season,” she added. “It was a good start for the young jazz team. The girls were pleased to take second.
“Detroit Lakes has a strong jazz team and had a solid lead of 40 points to take first in the competition.
“The team knows where their weaknesses are in jazz and their scores reflected that,” Reilly said. “They will be working hard to make corrections this week for the CLC jazz meet on Friday, December 16.”
