Card gymnastics: Alexandria wins dual
Hannah Wendell is all-around champion
Hannah Wendell won the all-around title as the Cardinal girls gymnastics team opened with a win over Fergus Falls and Alexandria tallied a total 132.675 for the night.
“Newcomer to the team, Hannah Wendell is a great addition to the varsity team,” said head coach Becca Cederberg, “earning herself first place on bars, beam and all-around.”
Wendell had a final score of 34.65, while Tahlia Bowden was second with a 34.6 and Sarah Dolan third with a 31.55.
“Tahlia Bowden unveiled her new vault for the season and earned herself not only first place, but a personal best score,” said the coach.
“Senior and captain Sarah Dolan rocked the beam with a personal best.”
Individually, Briquelle Bowden was third on the bars with an 8.05 and Bria Schuler was fourth with a 7.475.
“Briquelle Bowden, captain, helped her team on three events – bars, beam and floor,” said Cederberg. “She is making remarkable strides after having surgery on her knee just a few months ago.
“What a great night for the Cardinal gymnasts. Both JV and varsity opened the season with a victory over Fergus Falls.”
