The families of Zion Lutheran Church and School in Alexandria invite the public to tour the recently completed building project referred to as “God’s Window on Third,” phase 1.

Tours will be given on Sunday, December 11 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the facility, located at 300 Lake Street. Refreshments will also be served.

Originally, the church and school were white frame structures. Since 1886, many changes have taken place, resulting in the present facility.

The most recent building project included a new and enlarged narthex/lobby, expanded preschool and kindergarten rooms, a new fireside/fellowship hall, a remodeled library, a youth gathering room, new American Disability Act (ADA) restrooms as well as new carpet, paint and lighting in the sanctuary.

Keeping the project “green” was accomplished by recycling building materials, installing motion sensitive lights and adding many inches of insulation.
