Card Nordic skiing: Alexandria skiers compete at Apollo Relays

The Alexandria girls' team was fifth and the boys were eighth

    Contributed Julia Sieling was part of the Cardinal girls’ Nordic ski relay team that finished fifth at the St. Cloud Apollo Relays on Tuesday.

Although no official team scores were kept, the Cardinal boys’ and girls’ Nordic ski teams got their season off to a start at the St. Cloud Apollo Relays Tuesday afternoon.

“Our boys’ and girls’ teams put in a great effort and got some great early season experience,” said head coach Luke Erickson. “To be on snow and race against other schools was great for our kids.”

The Cardinal girls finished fifth in a 14-team field, with the boys coming in eighth.

The girls’ relay consisted of Melissa Gromatka, Megan Bristow, Lauren Hagstrom and Julia Sieling, while the boys’ relay included Pat Flynn, Eric Branch, Carl Branch and Cody Call.
