Card volleyball: Team hands out awards
Brianna Johnson picks up three honors for 2011 season
The Alexandria volleyball team handed out its season-ending awards recently as the Cardinals named Brianna Johnson their team MVP for the 2011 season.
The senior outside hitter was one of three Alexandria players named to the All-Central Lakes Conference team. She also took home the Spirit Award and the Coaches’ Award for her role in leading this team.
Jenni Wild earned the team’s Hustle Award and was an All-CLC performer. Adrianne Wensman was named the team’s Offensive MVP, while Shanee’ Herd earned the Defensive MVP Award. Herd joined Johnson and Wild on the all-conference team, as well.
The Cardinals had three others named honorable mention all conference. Laurel Thompson, Emily Kuennen and Wensman all earned that honor. Thompson and Danielle Warren also earned all-state academic awards for their efforts in the classroom.
