Card dance: Alexandria is sixth in season opener
Competition is tough in CLC
Alexandria’s dance season opened on the road Tuesday night at St. Cloud Tech with the Cardinals finishing sixth.
“It was a kick competition, and all CLC teams were in attendance,” said head coach Christine Reilly. “All [the] teams came out strong. It was a great first meet for the new season.
Sartell took top honors in a tough field for the opening competition, with St. Cloud Tech in second, Brainerd third, Sauk Rapids fourth and Rocori fifth. Willmar was seventh, St. Cloud Apollo eighth and Fergus Falls ninth. Four out of the nine teams reached the state tournament last year.
“Scores were tight between fifth-place Rocori, Alexandria and the seventh-place team from Willmar,” Reilly said. “The girls took the floor with confidence and had a very solid performance for the first meet of the year.
“Their weakness was their kick height and that allowed Rocori to come in ahead of them.”
Alexandria is scheduled to compete in the Fergus Falls Invitational Saturday, December 10.
