Priscilla Miranda Norling, 87, died November 25, 2011, at Douglas County Hospital after a short illness.
Priscilla was born on the family farm in Elbow Lake on October 14, 1924, the daughter of Isaac and Bertina (Anderson) Kolle. She graduated from Elbow Lake High School and worked at the bakery in Elbow Lake prior to meeting Enfred “Shorty” Norling.
Priscilla and Enfred were married on September 26, 1953 at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Alexandria. They settled in Alexandria where Shorty and Priscilla bought a restaurant, The Dairy Diner, which they owned and operated for four years. The couple also operated a lawn mowing business in which they mowed 10 cemeteries and a few businesses and they also delivered the green sheet together. First and foremost, however, Priscilla dedicated her time to being a “stay at home” mom and bringing up the couple’s two children.
The couple moved off the family farm in 2008 and moved into Alexandria. Priscilla loved to get out for coffee, play cards, and enjoyed her birthday club group that she was a member of for more than 50 years. She also enjoyed taking Sunday drives through the countryside with Shorty.
She is survived by her son, Keith (Sheila) Norling of Alexandria; daughter, Kolleen (Gerald) Roth of Alexandria; grandchildren, Tammy (Matthew Justin) Roth, Reggie (Kari) Roth, Anita (Cody Lindstrom) Norling, and Paul (Jessica Klimek) Norling; great-grandchildren, Gracie Norling, Laine Lindstrom, and Riley Roth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Enfred “Shorty” Norling; sisters, Constance Helleckson, Gemelia Dahle; and brothers, Godfred Kolle, Irvin Kolle, Albin Kolle and Alton Kolle.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 28 at Calvary Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Martinson and the Rev. Jim Oakland officiating. Music was provided by Becky Worley, organist, and Kari Roth, soloist. Pallbearers were Tammy Roth, Matthew Justin, Reggie Roth, Kari Roth, Anita Norling, Cody Lindstrom, Paul Norling and Jessica Klimek. Honorary pallbearers were members of her neighborhood group, Deanne Gustafson, DiAnne Loch, JoAnne Norling, Sue Johnson, Esther Ripley, Evie Skrove, Mardith Fiegum, Darlene Anderson, Linda Zismer, Barb McIver and Corrine Persson.
