Minnewaska junior Bridget Opdahl was 16th overall in the 50 free, finishing with a time of 25.50, after swimming a 24.87 in the preliminaries. The event was won by Danielle Nack of Mankato East, who set a new Class A record of 22.93.
Opdahl was also 16th in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.83 after posting a 54.83 in the prelims. Whitney Weiz of Little Falls was the champion with a time of 50.57.
Opdahl scored two points for the Minnewaska-Morris Gators in the State Class A meet.
Sartell-St. Stephen junior Marisa Wood set a new All-time record in the 500 freestyle as well as a new Class A mark in the 200 freestyle, helping lead her Sabres team to the State Class A team championship.
Wood clocked in a 4:49.68 in the 500 free to break the previous All-Time record of 4:50.55 set by Kiera Janzen of Cretin-Derham Hall in 2008. The national record is 4:34.78, set in 2008 by Dagny Knutson of Minot, North Dakota.
The Sabre junior’s time in the 200 free was 1:48.86, one second off the Minnesota All-time mark of 1:47.86 set in 2008 by Kiera Janzen of Cretin-Derham Hall.
