Card girls' swimming, diving: Alexandria 7th in CLC
Honorable mention goes to Megan Bristow
Alexandria finished seventh in the Central Lakes Conference girls’ swimming and diving championships Saturday, recording 13 individual top-16 finishes.
Sartell easily outdistanced the rest of the field, cruising past runner-up Brainerd by more than 125 points as Marissa Wood and Ellen Bloom each had a pair of wins, and set records along the way.
Wood broke the old mark in both the 200 and 500 free races, while Bloom set a new record in the 200 IM.
The Sabre relays took first in all three events, setting two new records there as well.
Cardinal Megan Bristow had a pair of top-16 finishes as she was fourth in the 200 IM and sixth in the 100 breaststroke. Her fourth place finish earned her Central Lakes All-Conference honorable mention.
Madalyn Winger was eighth in both the 200 IM and 100 fly, while Kate LeBrasseur was 10th in the 200 IM and ninth in the 100 back.
Rachel Peters finished 12th in the 50 free and 13th in the 100 free, with Kalli Bowser 16th in the 100 fly and seventh in the 100 back and Hannah Eklund 12th in the 500 free and 10th in the 100 breast.
Caroline Roers put in a top-16 finish in the 200 free with an 11th place.
The Redbird 200 medley relay finished eighth as Bowser, Bristow, Winger and Beth Burnham swam to a 2:03.47, while Bowser LeBrasseur, Winger and Peterson were fifth in the 400 free relay and Bristow, Roers, Burnham and Peterson finished ninth in the 200 free relay.
The Cardinals’ 2-6 CLC record and seventh place finish in the league finale this past weekend landed the team in eighth place overall for the 2011 conference season
Alexandria is now preparing for the Section 6A meet November 12 at the UM at Morris.
