Osakis football: Mainstreeters end Silverstreaks' season

Sauk Centre ramped up its defense to blow open a 21-21 halftime tie and hand Osakis its third straight loss of the year, ending the Silverstreak’s season with a 56-29 loss in Section 6AA playoff action Tuesday night.

The loss was the third straight for the Silverstreaks, who ended their season with a 6-3 overall mark.

The Mainstreeters opened scoring on a 25-yard run by Roosevelt Austin, but Brian Thorstad responded for Osakis with a 3-yard scoring run of his own to tie the game before Austin gave Sauk Centre a 15-7 first quarter lead.

Osakis turned things around in the second quarter, outscoring the Mainstreeters 14-6 on touchdown runs by Drew Fearing and Marty Walsh to leave the score tied at the half.

It was in the second half that Sauk Centre exploded offensively, scoring four unanswered touchdowns to surge to a 49-21 lead, shutting down the Silverstreaks and not allowing them to score until less than five minutes remained in the final quarter.
