Gromatka wins Pioneer Race duathlon

Alexandria’s Steve Gromatka won the Church of the Harvest duathlon Pioneer Race in a field of 88 participants and 11 teams earlier this fall.

Gromatka, a Jefferson High School graduate and senior Nordic skier at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, set the course mark with a time of 1:02:25.9. He started with a two-mile run in 13:46.6, then went on to finish the 13-mile bike ride in 33:12 before a final two-mile run in 13:24.4.

All the proceeds from the race will go to help sponsor youth mission trips.
