The Minnesota Department of Commerce today launched a newly redesigned, user-friendly website. The new site, mn.gov/commerce , is designed to provide easier access to information and deliver better service to Minnesota consumers and businesses.

“Improving our department’s communication and consumer outreach efforts is one of my priorities as commissioner,” said Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman. “It is more important than ever to provide Minnesota consumers and businesses access to helpful tools and information they need to make informed decisions in a complex marketplace. This new website is an integral part of that effort.”

The Minnesota Department of Commerce regulates more than 20 different industries, and serves countless consumers every year. To provide easier, more direct access to information, the new website features one main Commerce site, and four division-specific sites. Those sites provide information and resources for four major divisions within the department, including Energy, Banking and Finance, Weights and Measures, and Insurance.

“The new design will make it easier for those visiting our website to find the information they are looking for,” said Commissioner Rothman. “Working with the Office of Enterprise Technology, our staff deliberately structured the new website to do exactly that. We know it will provide a valuable service to our state, particularly Minnesota consumers and businesses.”

The redesign makes the website more visually appealing and better-showcases the department’s initiatives and activities. Special features include: the ability of users to search for content by topic or audience; home page icons, including a “Consumer Favorites” icon, that make it easy for consumers to access the information they’re seeking; and a “How Do I Find” list to make it easier to find the most popular content.

New URLs or web addresses have been established for the main Commerce site and the four child sites:
