Phyllis Ann Hagen, 78, passed away on September 27, 2011 at Bethany Community in Alexandria, after a lengthy illness.
Phyllis was born July 18, 1933 to Frederick and Linnea Hagen in Starbuck. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Farwell Lutheran Church. After graduation from Glenwood High School, she attended nursing school in Camrose, Alberta, Canada, graduating as a licensed practical nurse. She then moved to London, Ontario, Canada and worked as a nurse for two years before returning to Minnesota. She worked at Douglas County Hospital on the 3 to 11 shift on the surgical floor for 45 years.
Her greatest joy came from her friends, nephew, niece and grand-nieces. The times of visiting over coffee with her friends were her fondest memories.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Frederick Hagen and Linnea Hagen; and her half-sister, Anna Mickeals.
She is survived by her brother, David Hagen and wife Kathy of Roseau; niece, Stephanie Horner and husband John Horner with stepgrand-nephew Shane and stepgrand-niece Darcy Poole of Warroad, nephew, Mark Hagen and wife Julie with grand-nieces Amanda and Samantha of North Bend, Washington, and nephew, James Mickeals of Ottawa, Ontario.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 3 at Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. John Peshek officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria.
