This month, the Douglas County community is asked to take time to help bring awareness to domestic violence by taking part in two events.
On Tuesday, October 18, beginning at 5 p.m., the annual Taking Steps Against Domestic Violence Walk will begin at the Douglas County Courthouse in Alexandria and end at Calvary Lutheran Church.
The event will also feature free T-shirts, food and guest speakers Chuck and M’Liss Switzer – a couple who broke the cycle of domestic abuse.
On Wednesday, October 19, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., the annual Domestic Abuse Awareness Luncheon will be held at Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center in Alexandria.
Guest speakers Chuck and M’Liss Switzer will be featured at the event. Tickets for the luncheon are $15 and can be purchased at Bremer Bank in Alexandria.
The following organizations support these events: Someplace Safe, Wings Family Supportive Services and United Communities Advocating Non-violence (UCAN).
Everyone is welcome to attend the walk and luncheon.
