Fire danger alert issued for west central area, including Alexandria

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for portions of West Central and South Central Minnesota today from noon until 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The warning is along and west of a line from Alexandria to Fairmont.
It was reported that conditions will occur mainly during the afternoon and early evening hours today and Wednesday.
Gusty winds from the south at 20 to 30 mph will blow through the warning area during the afternoon and early evening hours today and Wednesday along with low humidity.
Grasses, brush and crops are dry in these areas and fires could spread quickly under these conditions, according to the Weather Service.
As of 8 a.m., winds were light from the southeast at 7 miles per hour at the Alexandria airport.
