Veterans treated to afternoon of fishing

On Wednesday, September 14, the Alexandria Lakes Area Chapter of Let’s Go Fishing with Seniors honored local veterans with an afternoon out on a lake, followed by a fish fry at Nelson Gables.

On Wednesday, September 14, the Alexandria Lakes Area Chapter of Let’s Go Fishing with Seniors honored local veterans with an afternoon out on a lake, followed by a fish fry at Nelson Gables.

Twelve Let’s Go Fishing volunteers took out four pontoons full of local veterans on Lake L’Homme Dieu.

The veterans enjoyed an afternoon of either fishing or sightseeing. At about 5 p.m. the 48 veterans and volunteers were treated to a supper of fish (provided by the Viking Sportsman Club), potato salad, beans, buns and cake at Nelson Gables. It was a cold but fun day for all, organizers said.
