Five injured in crash near Garfield

Five people were injured in a one-vehicle crash east of Garfield Saturday night.

Five people were injured in a one-vehicle crash east of Garfield Saturday night.

The driver, Lance Vogt, 34, of Vergas, reportedly failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of County Roads 22 and 6 at about 11:30 p.m., according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle went into the ditch and struck a utility pole.

One passenger, Melissa Rorvig, 35, of Vergas had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Three other passengers, Autumn Rorvig, 15, Macy Vogt, 7, and Sidney Vogt, 11, also suffered injuries.

All five of the people in the vehicle were treated at the Douglas County Hospital. Melissa Rorvig was transferred to the St. Cloud Hospital.

They were all wearing seat belts except for Melissa Rorvig, according to the sheriff’s office.

The accident remains under investigation.

Douglas County sheriff’s deputies were assisted by North Ambulance, Garfield Fire Department and Garfield First Responders.
