School bus crashes with car near Alexandria; no injuries reported

Early this morning, school district bus 29 was involved in a minor bus/car accident near the intersection of Highway 27 and Highway 29 in Alexandria. This occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m.

Early this morning, school district bus 29 was involved in a minor bus/car accident near the intersection of Highway 27 and Highway 29 in Alexandria. This occurred at approximately

7:15 a.m. and there were no injuries as a result of the accident.

Forty-four students, along with the driver, were on the bus at the time of the accident. The bus was transporting students from the Holmes City area to Jefferson High School.

The accident occurred as the bus driver was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Highway 29 on a green arrow when a car traveling south on Highway 29 entered the intersection.

All passengers were taken to Jefferson and assessed by Melissa Bright, the district school nurse. There were no injuries as a result of the accident, the district emphasized.

The students’ families are being contacted by school district personnel to inform them of the accident.

The district is completing its assessment of the accident, including working with law enforcement and the driver.
