Antonia “Babe” L. Koubsky, 80, Glenwood, died Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.

Antonia “Babe” L. Koubsky, 80, Glenwood, died Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 31 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood with Father Peter Kirchner officiating. Visitation is Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with parish prayers at 6:45 p.m. at Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Interment will be at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Cemetery in rural Lowry.

Antonia was born June 3, 1931 in Reno Township to Joseph W. and Antonia (Pronek) Koubsky. She grew up on the family farm in Reno Township and was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church. Babe attended rural country school and then graduated from Glenwood High School.

After high school, Babe and her sister Lillian moved to Minneapolis, where they worked at Sears. In 1996, after working at Sears for more than 36 years, Babe and Lillian retired and moved back to Glenwood. In 2009, Babe moved into Lakeview Good Samaritan Society in Glenwood.

Babe enjoyed photography, crossword and jigsaw puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune. She loved to travel and was very artistic, each year her Christmas tree and decorations were just perfect. She will be remembered for the beautiful wedding cakes she baked for family and friends, bringing them back to the area from Minneapolis. Babe was a wonderful sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sisters, Mary (Richard) Kaminski of Richfield and Lillian Koubsky of Glenwood; brother, Joseph (Janet) Koubsky of Glenwood; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Koubsky of Glenwood, Elaine Koubsky of Lowry and Karen Koubsky of Glenwood; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Babe was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Antonia Koubsky; and brothers, Frank, Charles and George Koubsky.
