Absentee ballots available for District 206 building bond election

Absentee ballots for the September 27, 2011 School District 206 bond referendum special election will be available for eligible voters located within School District 206 on August 12.

Absentee ballots for the September 27, 2011 School District 206 bond referendum special election will be available for eligible voters located within School District 206 on August 12.

Voters are allowed to vote by absentee ballot due to absence from precinct, illness or disability, service as an election judge in another precinct, religious discipline or observance of religious holiday, eligible emergency declared by the governor, or quarantine declared by federal or state government.

Absentee ballots may be cast in the school district office located at 1410 South McKay Avenue, Suite 201, Alexandria, during regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Note: The office will be closed on Labor Day, Monday, September 5.

To accommodate individuals needing to vote by absentee ballot, the district office will also be open on:

• Wednesday, August 17, 4:30-9 p.m.

• Saturday, August 20, 8 a.m. to noon.

• Saturday, September 10, 8 a.m. to noon.

• Saturday, September 24, 8 a.m. to noon.

Voters may also cast an absentee ballot by mail. To allow for processing and mail delivery, it is recommended that residents request an application for an absentee ballot no later than September 19, 2011. Once a completed application is submitted, the voter will be sent an absentee ballot by mail. All voted absentee ballots must be returned to the school district no later than 3 p.m. on election day, September 27, 2011.
