• Al Carlson, certified employee benefits specialist with Bremer Bank, was awarded Fellowship standing in the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists. Carlson earned the distinction by successfully completing a national employee benefits continuing education course/exam developed by the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
The International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists is an educational association dedicated to serving the professional development needs of those holding the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist designation. Carlson earned his CEBS designation in 2003.
He is also a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters. He and his team serve Bremer business customers throughout Minnesota with their employee benefits needs.
• Tri-State Manufacturers’ Association (TSMA), based in Elbow Lake, has announced the addition of Tyler Wirth to the TSMA Board of Directors. The board voted unanimously to appoint Wirth to complete the term recently vacated by Linda Besse, who is no longer employed in the region.
Wirth joins fellow board members Bob Grove (Cosmos Enterprises, Elbow Lake), Don Leapaldt (State Bank and Trust, Fergus Falls), Todd Peterson (3M, Alexandria), Kevin Schutz (OECS, Alexandria), Elroy Vesta (EJ Enterprises, Fergus Falls), Mike Westergard (StoneL, Fergus Falls) and Dick Young (Innova Industries, Fergus Falls). • ORB Management of Alexandria just completed a 4,000-square-foot addition and remodel project for Valley View Healthcare and Rehab, which added a transitional care unit for improved physical, occupational and speech rehabilitation services to the 43-bed skilled nursing facility in Houston, Minnesota.
The new addition will be used for short-term care of individuals who qualify for rehab/skilled services.
ORB Management Corporation, founded in 2002, is a professional, collaborative organization that guides clients through project planning, real estate development, design and construction process management, facility diagnostics, financial feasibility and process risk management.
• On Thursday, August 11, participating Dairy Queens, including the one at 907 North Nokomis, Alexandria, will participate in Miracle Treat Day.
A portion of all Dairy Queen Blizzard Treats sold during the day-long fundraiser will benefit children who receive care at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare.
Participating DQ operators will donate $1 or more per Blizzard sold to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a national organization committed to raising awareness of and funds for children’s hospitals.
All monies raised by DQ operators in Minnesota and western Wisconsin benefit Gillette.
Last year, Gillette provided care to more than 23,000 children, including more than 100 from Douglas County.
“We hope to see a snowstorm of activity on August 11 as DQ locations throughout the region raise money for children with some of the most complex medical conditions seen today,” said Darlis Clausen, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals manager at Gillette.
