Highway 55 near Lowry still closed

Highway 55 east of Lowry will remain closed through at least Friday to allow crews to continue working on downed power lines.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) and the Minnesota State Pa-trol closed Highway 55 on August 1 due to storm dam-age.

Traffic is detoured using Highway 29 and Pope County Road 28.

The power line recovery ef-fort is taking longer than originally anticipated due to several factors. MnDOT says it is working with the power company to open Highway 55 as soon as safely possible.

In addition, water has re-ceded from Highway 28 in Glenwood near the Pope County Fairgrounds so warn-ing signs have been removed from the area.
