Reader’s Choice Favorite Hairstylist

Jillayne Carlson, a hair stylist at Hair A’la More in Alexandria, was slightly overwhelmed when she found out that – out of all the stylists in the lakes area – she was selected as the “Favorite Hairstylist” in this year’s Readers Choice.

“My jaw dropped and my eyes filled with tears!” she said. “I was just really happy and proud.”

It was especially reassuring for her to know her clients still thought of voting for her, even though she has been on maternity leave for the past two months!

She’s enjoyed her time home with her three children, but is also anxious to reconnect with her clients when she returns August 2.

Carlson, who has been in the business for 14 years, said that she decided at a young age that she wanted to be a hair stylist. Her aunt – also a stylist – was her inspiration.

“I like to make people look good,” she said of why she likes her profession. “I like to get my hair done, and I guess I just try to treat people like I like to be treated.

“I’m just thankful and honored that my clients nominated me. Thanks!”
