TIE: Noonan Park and Alexandria City Park
Alexandria City Park is one of the only public places within the city limits you can go to and feel like you’re miles away. The rolling green, wooded lawns gently sloping to the shores of Lakes Henry and Agnes are a great place to sit quietly, or play a game with the family.
With a modern playground at the entrance to the park, more equipment near the lakeshore and a swimming beach, kids have a great time here.
Noonan Park was created by Phil Noonan in 1937. It was donated to the city in 1943 and for nearly 70 years has been a popular place to walk, feed the ducks and ice skate. The unique little yellow house is a fun draw to the park, as are the bridges, walkways and flower gardens. A nearby playground also offers fun for youngsters.
