Alexandria advanced through the losers’ bracket to reach the finals of the District 5 VFW tournament over the weekend and will now face Morris today, Monday, for the champion-ship.
Alexandria will need to win twice to ad-vance to state. New London-Spicer was ousted by Alexandria 2-1 in eight innings in the elimination bracket on Sunday.
Alex fell 4-3 to New London-Spicer Friday night, falling into the losers’ bracket, then rebounded to defeat Willmar 9-8 after trailing 7-1 in the third inning.
They then added a 9-6 rally win over Madison, coming back from a 6-2 deficit in the fifth and edged out New London-Spicer 2-1 in eight innings to reach the finals.
Game time is 6 p.m., with a second game if necessary to follow. All action is in Montevi-deo.
