Johnson takes three golds at USA Track and Field Junior Olympics
Wensia Johnson of Alexandria, 13, competed in the USA Track and Field Region 8 Junior Olympics last weekend at Hamline University in St. Paul, bringing home three gold medals.
Johnson won the long jump with a leap of 5.01 meters or 16' 5", then took top honors in the 100-meter yard dash with a time of 12.44. Her third gold was in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.78.
There were more than 1,300 competitors from North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Johnson qualified for Nationals, which will be held in Wichita, Kansas the last week in July.
