Pitch, Hit and Run: Roste is state runner-up
The Alexandria competitor was one of the top three in the sectional event
Alexandria’s Jana Roste competed this past weekend at Target Field in the State Pitch, Hit and Run competition sponsored by Major League Baseball and Aquafina, in conjuction with the Jaycees.
Her advancement to the state in the girls’ 13-14 year old category came as a result of being the overall champion at both the local and sectional levels.
Roste’s score at sectionals being one of the top three scores in the four-state area of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa brought her to Target Field. Her second place state title will not advance her to the national level.
The top three first place finishers in the nation will compete at the All-Star game in Phoenix, AZ during the All-Star break.
Roste finished fifth in the nation in 2010.
