Alexandria senior Maxine Carlson was named the most valuable player for the 2011 Cardinal girls’ golf team after her top-10 finish in the State Class AAA tournament last week.
Carlson was named the Central Lakes All-Conference team after finishing second in the individual CLC standings behind Bobbie Bohlig of St. Cloud Tech.
Freshman Amanda Bigger, who also earned All-conference honors, received the coaches award for being the hardest worker in practice, while Lauren Johnson, a senior, was the final All-CLC pick and shared most improved player honors with freshman Emily Thul as the two had an 8.5-stroke average improvement from last season.
Eighth grader Natalie Amundson received honorable mention in the All-conference standings.
The Cardinal girls were selected as the Section 8AAA academic champions.
