Girls' golf: Carlson named Cardinal MVP

Alexandria senior Maxine Carlson was named the most valuable player for the 2011 Cardinal girls’ golf team after her top-10 finish in the State Class AAA tournament last week.

Carlson was named the Central Lakes All-Conference team after finishing second in the individual CLC standings behind Bobbie Bohlig of St. Cloud Tech.

Freshman Amanda Bigger, who also earned All-conference honors, received the coaches award for being the hardest worker in practice, while Lauren Johnson, a senior, was the final All-CLC pick and shared most improved player honors with freshman Emily Thul as the two had an 8.5-stroke average improvement from last season.
