It was a good way to end a high school career as Alexandria senior Maxine Carlson finished tied for eighth with a two-day total 159 at the State Class AAA girls’ golf tournament at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids.
Carlson was tied for eighth after day one with Tabitha Kunst of Duluth East, Lizzy Hogan of Eden Prairie, Brooke Finger of Northfield, Taylor Wells of Rochester Century and Sarah Burnham of Wayzata as all six players finished the 18 holes with 80s.
Carlson carded a 45 on the front nine, then shaved 10 strokes off that score on the back with a 35.
On day two, Carlson shot rounds of 42 and 37 for a total 79 to give her the final 159 score.
She tied with Sadie Martin of Elk River/Zimmerman and Grace Todora of Cretin-Derham Hall.
The Cardinal senior golfer was the Central Lakes Conference runner-up behind Bobbie Bohlig of St. Cloud Tech. The Alexandria girls trailed Tech in the conference standings by one point this year to earn runner-up honors.
