State Class A girls' track and field: Osakis relays are runners-up

Ashby/Brandon-Evansville, Minnewaska girls also compete

The Osakis girls earned a pair of state runner-up honors as the Silverstreak girls finished 11th overall at the State Class A track and field meet at Hamline University in St. Paul over the weekend.

The Silverstreaks were second to Breck in both the 4x200 and 4x400 relays as Taylor Kraemer, Aimee Allen, Hannah Szech and Becka Sadlemyer ran to a 1:45.81 in the 4x200, trailing Breck’s 1:44.20.

In the 4x400, Makayla Hoglin, Allen, Calista Sadlemyer and Szech broke the Silverstreaks’ 2009 state championship time of 4:07.22 as they battled Breck once again, finishing in 3:58.78, while Breck grabbed top honors with a 3:57.70.

In the 4x100 relay, Osakis’ Alexa Hoffarth, Allen, Kraemer and B. Sadlemyer finished sixth with a 50.96, while Pequot Lakes sprinted to first in 50.21.

In the long jump, freshman Aimee Allen finished 12th overall with a leap of 15’ 6.25” in the event won by Analisa Huschle of Bagley/Fosston who jumped 18’ 2.5”.

Minnewaska’s Brandi Otto earned a ninth place finish at state in the discus with a throw of 112’ 6”. The winning throw went to Hannah Steele of Windom with a 119’ 11” throw.

Megan Friedrich of Ashby/Brandon-Evansville finished 10th in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles with that event being won by Bree Wolber of Pipestone, and Heather Strese was 14th in the shot put with a distance of 34’ 1.5”. Rebecca Osterdyke of Mora won the event with a toss of 43’ 2”.
