State Class A, AA girls' golf: Osakis' Ross, Minnewaska girls open state title defense today

At 11:49 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, Minnewaska's Ellen Stensrud will be the first of the Laker girls' golf team to tee off during the State Class AA tournament at the Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan.

The Minnewaska girls are entering their seventh consecutive state tournament, having won the past five.

Stensrud will play with Samantha Olmscheid of Pequot Lakes, Caitlin Clause of Mankato East and Ellyn Mortell of St. Croix Lutheran as the foursome tees off on No. 10.

Jamie Smith is the next off the No. 1 tee at 12:16 p.m. and will play with Sophie Tuttle of Waseca, Erica Schwalbe of Pequot Lakes and Emma Groom of St. Croix Lutheran, and at 12:25 on the No. 1 tee, Jenna Janu's foursome of Emma Kishel of Virginia, Becky Koepp of Belle Plaine and Ashley Neuwirth of Becker tee off.

Alexis Guggisber will tee off on No. 10 at 12:52 p.m., along with Kaylan Huber of Perham, Nikki Pasch of Red Wing and Annika Ring of Dassel-Cokato, while at the same time on No. 1, senior Sam Falk will play with Trisa Hutchinson of Detroit lakes, Danielle Brooks of Red Wing and Emily Israelson of Staples-Motley.

The Lakers' final player, junior Brianna Janu, will tee off at 1:10 on No. 1 along with Anna Laorr of Breck, Holly Karkela of Perham and Jordan Price of Byron.

Osakis eighth grader Ariel Chambers will be the first player to tee off for the Silverstreak girls' golf team during the State Class A meet at the Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker on Wednesday.

Chambers will play with Camille Hagen of Fosston, Jenna Stevermer of United South Central and Savannah Robertson of Mesabi East as the foursome tees off on No. 1 at 11:40 a.m.

Katelyn Foster, a freshman, will tee off at the same time on No. 10, playing with Hannah Oellien of Lincoln-HI, Kyley Bullerman of United South Central and Aubri Ribich of Mesabi East, while at 11:58 a.m. on No. 10, freshman Emily Backes will tee off with Kaylee Hoffman of St. Clair, Elizabeth Anderson of Barnesville and Kaylee Fisher of Northome-Kelliher.

Freshman Peyton Garcia's play begins 12:16 p.m. on the No. 1 tee, playing with Jenna Sevenson of Kenyon-Wanamingo, Raelyn Spears of Providence Academy and Brandy Wilkens of Ada-Borup.

Annalise Savageau, another freshman, will open play at 12:52 p.m. on the No. 1 tee, playing with Steph Aanenson of Mounds Park Academy, Emaleigh Vreeman of Southwest Minnesota Christian and Emily Rudquist of Deer River.

Defending Class A champion, senior Kelsey Ross, will vie for her second title as she tees off at 1:01 p.m. on the first tee. She will play with Mallory Manecke of Fosston, Hannah Kruger of Russell-Tyler-Ruthton and Maddie Mithun of Providence Academy.
