More than 500 Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) enthusiasts will be in Alexandria June 16-18 for the 22nd annual Minnesota State H.O.G. Rally. The event will be held at the Broadway Ballroom and Fat Daddy’s.
During the rally, H.O.G. members will take part in a variety of activities, games and tests of riding skill such as a “slow-ride” contest, a bike show and an observation run.
A parade of Harley-Davidson motorcycles will ride through the streets of Alexandria on Saturday, June 18 at 5:30 p.m. The parade will begin near the Apol’s dealership and travel a 10-mile route through downtown Alexandria on Broadway and around the lakes and end at the Broadway Ballroom. Rides are also planned through nearby scenic areas.
“The best part of the rally is the riding,” said DeWayne Nelson, 2011 rally coordinator. “We have some great rides planned through the countryside, hills and woods with incredible views of our beautiful lakes area while on a motorcycle.”
A bowling contest between the chapters will be held at the Garden Center Lanes, and a walking challenge will be held in Alexandria. Any chapter or individual can compete for prizes and trophies and to bring home bragging rights from the rally.
Joining H.O.G. members in Saturday’s rally parade will be visitors from other states and from Australia, Lonnie and Robin Apol, owners of the Alexandria dealership and many others.
“We hope the H.O.G. members who come to the 2011 Minnesota State H.O.G. Rally find Alexandria “easy to ride to – hard to leave,” Nelson said.
H.O.G. chapters throughout Minnesota are sponsored by Harley-Davidson dealers. Local chapters give H.O.G. members the opportunity to meet fellow riding enthusiasts and participate in chapter rides and events.
With more than 1,100,000 members and 1,400 chapters in 135 countries, the Harley Owners Group is the largest factory-sponsored motorcycle club in the world.
