Workshop offered on turfgrass maintenance with reduced environmental impacts

The University of Minnesota Extension is offering a workshop on turfgrass maintenance with reduced environmental impacts on Thursday, June 16 at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources at 1509 North First Avenue in Fergus Falls from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
This course is intended for property managers, private maintenance companies, schools, and park departments. This six-and-a-half-hour training offers insight and best practices for managing turfgrass which will help you save money, time, and the environment. Workshop topics include: equipment calibration, selection and application of fertilizers, mowing techniques, pesticide application tips, best practices for turfgrass management, legal issues and additional resources as well as how turfgrass management affects local lakes and rivers.
Funding for this workshop is made possible through US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 319 Funds through the Clean Water Act administered by the MPCA, and partnerships with Fortin Consulting plus the University of Minnesota Extension office in Fergus Falls. Workshop fee is $20 and will include a copy of Turfgrass Maintenance with Reduced Environmental Impacts Manual, refreshment and lunch.
A second workshop, Winter Salt Management for Parking Lots and Sidewalks, will be offered at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources at 1509 North First Avenue in Fergus Falls on Wednesday, September 14 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
